How did they get these engineers to get through their whole presentation without saying "um", "uh" or look like they are reading. It really seemed off the cuff too. Very talented folks

Totally agree. I was waiting for an example of deep learning problem solving in a minor nuanced way like dealing with that cart at the beginning but understanding it is a cart and modifying its behavior based on that image recognition. Sadly, I don't remember seeing that.
