If we use GitHub stars as some measure of relative popularity (or at least awareness): Prometheus has 55.7k stars. For comparison, Ruby on Rails has 56.1k stars, ranked only two spots ahead of Prometheus in GitHub repos with most stars.
So why doesn’t every post on HN about Rails have a comment like yours?
