Great to hear things are slowly improving in Baltimore City, which has seen roughly a 10% population decline every single decade since the 1970s. Hope to hear more great news about Baltimore City improvements (supported by facts and statistics).
On the other hand, Baltimore County, which surrounds the City, has grown by 40% in population over 1970-2025 without the need for a single defensive on-line rant.
This “article” is a pure political rant that had no place being published by Techdirt and has no place here. There is no tech content and precious little fact-based policy discussion. Why is this here, dang?
"Without throwing more cops at the problem"
From the article: "homicides were down 22% compared to 2024, and non-fatal shootings". The text is hyperlinked to a source for that claim. I click said link.
Here's what the link has to say:
"This year’s mid-year report highlights meaningful progress in reducing crime, hiring more officers, advancing Consent Decree compliance and addressing quality-of-life concerns".
What an absolutely disgusting article, by the way. I only read it far enough to click on the first interesting link I saw, which immediately refuted the article's title, and then left as fast as I could.
