The fact that the government refuses to sell these, and insists instead on destroying them, demonstrates that these self-identified "fiscal conservatives" are, and always were, lying through their teeth.

Even selling them at a loss would save more money than destroying them entirely, especially when there are indeed organizations willing to cover the costs to take them off the US government's hands:

I think in a sane world we would at least distribute them to hospitals and family planning clinics in the states for low income households.
