What sad news.
I met FX many years ago during a Black Hat event. At the time, I was working on a class of vulnerabilities related to zip archives. Not only did he know exactly what I was on to, but he was able to articulate the actual issue and explain what was happening behind the scenes and why my exploit was working.
A true legend.
It's been a long time, but I've always cherished our late night conversations at the Alexis Park. Truly a great hacker. RIP my friend
I'm really sad, even if I never met him personally and only knew him from his talks, his software and of course his blog.
I had hoped that after his illness he would be granted some time for personal life and recovery — which makes this news all the more shocking.

Yeah, he had a stroke. Not many updates, unfortunately.
Aside from feeling sad that he had a stroke, I've been wondering how the infrastructure for his blog keeled over so fast.
